REVIEW: Mwg Zinc II Windows Mobile Professional Smartphone
ThoughtsMedia asked:
This is my review of the MWg Zinc II, a GSM-based Windows Mobile Professional Smartphone. It has a 500 mhz Samsung CPU, 64 MB of RAM, a 2.8 inch 320 x 240 resolution touch screen, GPS, and a slide-out keyboard. It’s a quad-band GSM (850/ 900/1800/1900 Mhz) and tri-band HSDPA 3G phone (850/ 1900/ 2100 Mhz). It’s currently selling for $599 USD (at the time of this writing).
My unboxing video is found here:

Yes, the slide-out action is fairly smooth. As for whether or not you should buy it, that’s your decision to make, not mine.

Technically? Yes. But since HTC doesn’t sell TouchFlo 3D, that’s where this conversation has to end.
- Jason
oh also can i install touchflo on it?
2 questions
1. is the slide out fluid, like is it a smooth slide out
2. i wanted the xperia but i found this for about $400
do you think i should go with this?
I’ve given this away as a prize in a contest, so I can’t answer that question unfortunately.
- Jason
How is the camera quality when taking still pictures and videos? Thank you.
I don’t think the Atom V has a slide-out keyboard, does it? So it’s a completely different class of device.
- Jason
Yes, it comes with Internet Explorer Mobile and an IM application – though you can install others if you don’t like the default.
- Jason
is the Atom V better or this?
does it include internet and messaging?
Yes, that’s exactly the problem – you’re buying the phone without a carrier subsidy, and this is how much these phones really cost.
But if you want to use a phone of your choice instead of what the carrier offers you, this is the price you pay.
- Jason
Thanks,Jason, the problem with that is that without a carrier you can get a lower price since this phone is Xpensive.I saw the price in $549.00.
This phone won’t come out on a carrier – it’s sold unlocked and can be used on any GSM carrier, which includes AT&T.
- Jason
Who is going to be the carrier of this phone? i’m with AT&T…
Keyboard is flat and its bulky, good if you like that sort of thing.
I’m not sure if MyFaves are controlled at the network level or if they’re on your SIM – but it’s not like it’s hard to program a few numbers onto this.
- Jason
Oh okay. So if I were to buy this phone and put my SIM card in it, do you think my myFaves would appear on the phone? Would you know
It can be used on any GSM network, including T-Mobile…but T-Mobile uses some funky band for 3G (1700 I think), so while the GPRS/EDGE would work, I’m not sure you’d get 3G speeds.
- Jason
Damn this thing is nice! What service is this for? If it’s for T-Mobile(which by the way I highly doubt it is) then I’m trading in my Wing!
Not impressive at all, Seriously UnderPOwered.
BOo!!!!
jason could you make a video on how to change the theme or color thatnx
hmm thanks mate nice vid…
i think thats a bit shit that you need to put your own url in if you wanna watch a video stream but i love this phone its gr8
