JAMM Exclusive: Preview of Ilium’s eWallet for iPad
It is no secret that one of my favorite apps on pretty much every platform is eWallet from Ilium. I have used it on almost every device I have owned(to be fair, it is not yet available for WebOS or Android). I first discovered it on my Dell Axim, though lately I had been using it on my iPod Touch. I had to stop using that version and revert to the desktop version, however, when my kids started playing with the iPod Touch and accidentally starting deleting apps. So, I was pretty excited when I heard from our friends at Ilium earlier today with exclusive details about the upcoming iPad version of their popular eWallet app.
Let’s get to it. First things first, eWallet for iPad has been submitted to the iTunes App Store, and should be immediately available on Saturday when those coveted iPads start showing up on people’s doorsteps. Even more exciting than that is the fact that Ilium has made eWallet a universal app. What does that mean? According to Ilium, it means that you will only need one version to run the app on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. So, if you own the iPhone version already, then you will receive a free upgrade which will allow you to load the app onto your iPad as well as your iPhone/iPod Touch. No extra cost involved.
Most importantly, the iPad version of eWallet includes all of the features you have come to expect from this app over the years, including:
- synchronize the iPad version of eWallet with the Windows PC version
- 256-bit AES strong encryption
- a familiar card-style interface.
In fact, not only does this offer a familiar interface, but it may just be the best platform yet for an app like eWallet. According to Marc Tassin from Ilium, “The platform lets us do some amazing things and we can’t wait to get the new version out to folks.” In other words, it is eWallet…only better. I don’t know about you, but I am more excited about this one than just about any app I have seen coming to the iPad so far (except maybe Flight Control). So, get ready, the devices should start arriving on Saturday and then those of us whose name does not end with Mossberg can finally get in on the hype as well.
Thanks to Ilium for sending us the advance scoop. You can check out eWallet in the iTunes app Store.
