G-Fone G588 Offers BlackBerry-Like Form Factor, Dual SIM Capabilities
We’re not going to say that it happens all the time, but it’s not impossible, either. What are we talking about? We’re talking about finding a phone that, for all intents and purposes, many would consider a rip-off of a ‘larger brand’ that is actually good. In this case, we have the G-Fone G588, which looks shockingly like a BlackBerry Curve 8900, minus the trackball. Unfortunately, there’s nothing really disappointing about this handset that would make us want to shun it for its striking similarities.

And maybe you’re one of the people out there that wants to have a dual SIM BlackBerry device. We don’t think that’s going to happen any time soon, so you should probably lose all hope. But! If you happen to be in India, or are travelling to India any time soon, here’s your next best thing: a device that can run on either a CDMA or GSM network, has a full QWERTY keyboard, an FM radio, Opera Mini pre-loaded, 1.3MP camera, a MicroSD card slot for expandable memory, and social network integration provided by Nimbuz. It’s got a 2.2? QVGA display, Bluetooth connectivity, and an MP3 player.
Like we said, there’s nothing terrible about this device. It’s actually not that bad at all. Sure, it doesn’t have the BlackBerry logo on it, but to some people out there, that may not matter. And if you’re in India, this does look like a great option. Of course, if some other rumors are true, maybe you should hold off for a bit longer.
