Flood Control Agency Integrates PDA With Command Systems, Saves U.S.$52.4 Million

Fujian Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters oversees flood control and drought relief in Fujian Province, China. It controls water volumes throughout the province, and wanted a system to enable it to manage floods, make accurate weather forecasts, and improve the efficiency of personnel and decision makers. With the help of developer Strongsoft, the agency implemented a PDA Integrated Application System for Flood Control to improve its command and control capability. The new system uses smartphones running on Windows Mobile linked to Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and Microsoft SQL Server to enable functions such as query, analysis, statistics, pre-warning, communications, and more.
